Pyro-Technics

This is a mental ability that allows the user to agitate the physical molecules of an item or area and cause enough friction for the area or item to explode, or a varying degree of other abilities. When it comes to offense, this is one of the most powerful of the mental abilities in that its devastation is well known by everyone.

A Pyro-Technic person can alter the friction around virtually any item to slowly, or quickly make it combust. The extent of their ability will be equivalent to their Energy Projection and Will Pts. The user will suffer from constant headaches due to their own latent abilities and often will die from them. The user can not wear heavy armor as their body temperature is on a constant flux from normal to very high, which is what causes the headaches. A normal Pyro (as they are called) will have a body temperature up to 10 degrees warmer than their normal racial body temperature.

Many Pyros hate water and avoid it as much as they can. It is not certain what fuels this phobia but it has been a common thread throughout history that the most powerful of Pyros were Aqua phobic. This is not to say that they will not shower or drink water, but swimming, or getting into water that will cover them completely is out of the question. Many will not even go near big bodies of water.

The Pyro is virtually immune to fire on a base scale. They have been known to burn themselves when they reach some of the higher levels of their power, but it is rare. The Pyro can use friction to heat items up to 8,000 degrees Fahrenheit, but some have been known to go even higher. This is an exhausting experience and drains Stamina as if the user is running every time they use their mental abilities. Therefore most Pyros are extremely fit, as if they were running their entire lives. This also causes them to have very high metabolisms, thus they consume twice to three times the amount of food that a normal mortal of their race would consume.

The Pyro can use friction, as above, but they can also pool their attacks, concentrating their abilities into individual shots. When done, these shots will build until the user releases them and then fire from their bodies (usually an extremity, but some have been known to fire from their entire body) at a rate equivalent to their energy project. When doing this, the user can use a portion of the projection or the entire projects. Those that exhibit this trait can fire these up to a quarter mile from themselves. Some of the most powerful have been able to do this with hundreds of smaller, ball-like shots that they manifest above themselves and rain down on their opponents.

Those that are masters can actually alter the friction around themselves to create barriers of pure heat that can melt up to lava intensity. The issue with this is that most do not have the concentration to be able to move while holding this so that shield is stuck in one place. Those that do have used it to devastating degrees.

The Pyro is tied to their abilities through their emotions and as such, a young Pyro that was born with the mental abilities rather than training themselves into it, will have major control issues when they start going through their puberty years. This has been a major issue in the past as entire cities have fallen to a single child. Thus when a child is found to be a Pyro from birth, they are sent to a small city on Colemania known as Bugsby where they are trained in their talents until they mature enough to control them. The training is grueling but those that survive come out far more powerful than when they went in. Also, many have gone on to be more powerful than regular Sorcerers. (See Bugsby Hall)

Pyros have short life spans due to their high metabolism and high temperatures and as such most will fizzle out before they even reach twenty five. The longest lived, that did not master any outside abilities other than Pyro-Technics, was thirty three when she died. Those that learn other traits have lived longer but the trade off is that much of their power is usually lost in learning the new abilities, but they do live longer. The oldest Pyro-Technic currently is Maldo Ven Degara. She lives in Propell and is a Blue Magic user and a Pyro-Technic. She refuses to learn any of the water spells, but illusion magic and her fire make her incredibly powerful.

Note: Be ware the Pyro as the moment that they start to rise in temper, their temperature has a habit of following.
