Purple Magic

This is the magic of destruction, called as such due to its highly destructive manner. It is also known as the magic of death, but Grey magic is much more apt for that.

Purple Magic was the first of all the magics created and specifically for the purpose of life, though as usual, the First Suprema goofed. When the First Suprema first started creating, he tried to use the energy that forms his being, called Metophic, but he quickly found that this energy was much to powerful for creation due to its unstable tendencies. When creating with Metophic energy the creation would constantly change forms and become something knew. This is great for inanimate objects that don’t serve a purpose, but not so well for things that need to live, breath and function.

He started watering down the Metophic energy with another form of energy that the he created, the hopes were high that it would become more stable and in exchange be able to sustain actual life for long periods of time. Purple magic, which he called it, was then poured into the first creation. This creation “lived” for a matter of minutes and then “died”, being cast out as rubbish when the First found it did not work. This being, however, was not dead in the since that we would now understand it. It simply began to morph into something different until it became the first of the Immarse that are known to inhabit the abyss. When the Immarse went to the abyss, it was stunned and confused, not certain what it was or where it came from. The Super Suprema of the abyss claimed it as one of his and named them Immarse, after a name he had heard from other beings living within the Abyss as well, beings that were there before he got there. Many of these beings followed and filled the abyss. They each evolved over the years and with them the magic that was put within them continued to absorb different types of energy until the magic was no longer pure purple but rather Immarian Magic. The original Immarse that were within the Abyss seemed to vanish when they got to the bottom of the Abyss, something that Mac tried repeatedly to understand as the Abyss was supposed to be the end of all realities. (See Immarian Magic.)

After thousands of attempts with the purple magic, the First found that it was not sufficient to handle true life, in the way that he wanted. So he took the pool he had and throw it into the abyss. The magic, at this time, was sentient due to being in direct contact with he First and began to duplicate itself over vast portions of the abyss. To what end, no one truly knows. What is known, however, is that Purple Magic is always in search of becoming better and creating things that can truly live for long periods of time. It will work with, or against, a host to help them create life, or obstruct death. It has a need for order and symmetry. Due to this, it works best with clerics, paladins, and those that wish to bring order to the universe. It works worse with anyone that wishes destruction to the universe, death, or chaos.

Purple magic can be used in its purest form only by the most powerful of wizards, sorcerers, mystics or the like. Those that try to use purple will often find the side effects more powerful than the actual spell and thus take the backlash so harshly that they destroy themselves. It is sentient and if used simply to destroy rather than the preserve life, it will actually double its backlash against the user. All of its spells have a backlash cost, which the spell’s backlash is cast on the caster unless they have enough power to pay for both against their victim. (Anyone that doesn’t pay for the backlash cost will have the spell cast on themselves and those around them. Also, backlash is double the cost, damage and effect if the user is not a master of Purple magic.)

Purple magic, as stated before, has a sentience to it. As such, it continuously tries to find someone or something that can wield it and help create perfect life. Due to its instability, Purple magic will probably never be able to create sentient life that is “perfect”, or for that matter can live more than a few days. (Though there are three things that it has created that have lived for ages, but these are abominations and few speak of them. One is the Purple Magic Dragon, which is immensely powerful, but virtually incapable of learning more than a fourth to sixth grade IQ.) Because of this, Purple magic gets frustrated if it’s user uses it for something other than the defense of life, or destruction of “evil”. If used incorrectly, the backlash will begin to double and even triple, depending on how much the spells are used against its natural purpose. For this to happen, the user would “knowingly” destroy life without cause of defense or furthering other life, or would use Purple magic without direct cause to further life or defense there of. (In other words, if you use this magic, don’t use it for simple, stupid things. Use it to defend or further life and nothing else.)

Being one of the first and most powerful of all the magics, Purple is also very diverse. Most spell systems can only cast spells within its own books. (Meaning that if the cast is a Red magic user, they can only use Red magic and can only cast Red magic spells. Casting other colors, without first mastering them, will harm the caster. Also, if they have Green magic in their pools, they can not use the magic without first completely mastering Red magic and then focusing on Green.) Purple, however, is much different, in that if a Purple magic user wishes to cast a red spell, they can simply pump Purple magic into the spell and cast it. The issue being that since there is no backlash to the spell, the backlash becomes half the cost of the spell and half the damage dealt back on the caster. If the backlash cost is paid, however, then the spell becomes 1.5 times more powerful and is cast on the victim. Thus, Purple magic is the most diverse of any magic in all of the spectrum.

Be careful, however, that you don’t use Grey or Black magic spells with Purple magic, as the backlash cost of these is equal to the casting cost and the damage is double that of the spell. Purple doesn’t like Grey or Black magics due to their nature.

Purple is used by the most powerful of beings on the planets and imbues the most powerful of weapons. An imbued, or enchanted, weapon with Purple magic can not be enchanted or imbued with any other magic, unless they were done at the same time.

Purple magic is not affected by other Gods, Malds, Supre Malds or Suprema, meaning that when the spell is cast, they can not dismiss the spell and can not simply overpower it with their power. Only Metophic energy can negate a Purple magic spell and only Metophic energy can destroy a Purple magic enchantment or imbuement. (See Metophic energy).
