Angelologist
This character keeps the names of the angles in a book that they carry with them. This book will be only accessible to the character. As long as the character remains in the good graces of their Higher Being, they will retain the book and be able to use any name within the book to their own uses. This allows them to call upon the powers of the angles from that Higher Beings heaven or call upon the angels themselves to come down like a summons to the probe. (This is called Invoking. See Invoking)
The Angelologist is usually devout in whichever religion they believe and will follow the religion as tightly as possible. They will rarely bend the rules and even more rarely, if ever, break them. They will be the word of their Higher Being upon the planet and as such want to be as closely tied to that word as possible. If they see something that is going against their own beliefs, they will try and stop it, even if that may bring them to their own deaths. The Angelologist does not fear death nor do they fear any type of being on the planet, for they believe that they are defended by their Higher Being from anything that could possibly harm them. (This is proved wrong many times, but always it is twisted by their faith to show that they died the way the Higher Being would have wanted. Be wary of the stories given by the religions as they are often skewed to ensure that their faith is shown in the brightest light.)
A master of Angelology can actually become one of the angles from their heaven by using the book and therefore take on the abilities, traits, etc. directly. This is extremely helpful due to the fact that the master will know the planet better than an angle who is rarely on the planet. Thus those powers can be put to the best of use for tracking, fighting, avoiding, etc. When this happens, the master is melted away and will take half their life total in damage, but will be healed 100% while the angle is one with them. Once the angle leaves or is defeated, the master will return with 1/2 health and feeling rather nauscious. Usually this will be the end of the fight, but the more powerful ones can carry on, but they rarely have enough stamina, will, etc. to continue the fight.
Note: Angelologists will suffer pain when in the vicinity of anything that would be considered “evil” to his/her religion. This pain is not life threatening, but more like a mild headache that gets stronger the closer they get to the item, person, demon, etc. Once in battle, though, the headache goes away.
Note 2: Angles do not like doing the bidding of mortals and will often despise having to work with the Angelologist until they gain respect for one another. This comes as a problem in the beginning of learning this craft due to the angles simply not caring if the mortal dies or not. (Often they will be able to defend the master directly, but are just a second too short on the defense.) Once they have mutual respect, though, the angles will treat the master like one of the angles. This takes years and often Angelologists will only summon up to three angles to ensure that they can actually get to know them. They will do this for ten years before searching the book for new angles to summon. Then repeat the process until they have a large assortment of angles. Only one master, of all history, has ever mastered an entire book of angles and had them all work for her directly.
Note 3: Angelologists can’t be the direct target of mental abilities. Area effects work fine, but direct mental abilities simply do nothing to them. (If it is a force ability, they will take the damage of the force, but nothing of the mental attack that is involved.)
Note 4: Their are seven tiers of angels in any heave, sometimes more for the more powerful heavens, and the tiers represent the different of power between the angles. Most Angelologists can work their way up to the fourth tier by the time they are old an gray. A handful have made it to the sixth tier. Only one, has ever made it to the seventh tier and the angels that she brought forth could crush a city by themselves.
Note 5: The most terrifying of all the Angelologists abilities is that of Heaven-Fire. This fire, brought forth by the Higher Being themselves, is made of pure Metophic Energy and dampened only slightly with Thermal Energy to deliver a blast that can actually destroy other Gods, if they don’t defend properly. This blast is extremely hard for them to learn and even harder for them to control. Once released, the fire will consume anything in its path, but will deal a great deal of damage to the user as well if they haven’t defended themselves to it. The problem being that no one remembers how that defense is supposed to be any longer as the book that once told of the steps to this defense was lost in the Melaney Wars. (See Melaney Wars.)
