The absolute worst of all the energy abilities is that of Radiation. This user can alter and manipulate radiation in such a way that makes them extremely powerful against mortals of any sort. Due to the nature of this ability, the user can only be someone with dymere rather than soulmere. The Radiation Energy user isn’t directly affected by the radiation they use, but will show the side effects of radiation poisoning over years of use. However, this user can pull soulmere to heal their poisoning and thus most of these users choose to be more evil than good.
Radiation Energy is diverse in that the user can use virtually any radiation that they come across and thus energy users that leave off radiation when they attack will actually fuel the Radiation Energy users attempts and even heal them in the process. Due to their nature and the dymere of their bodies, these users are very easy to spot. They often will give off a glow, or even waves of energy that seem to sway around their bodies. Those that have complete control over the five manipulations will be able to control this, but anyone else will show up like a light bulb at night.
1. Demulium Radiation – Allows the user to have atoms decay at an accelerated rate. This can cause steel to rust, people to age, or even wood to rot. This ability manifests at birth, or when the soulmere becomes a dymere, and does not shut off. Anything they touch will have the effects shown within seconds. If they are around people for too long, the people will fall victim to their abilities. Most of these try to hide themselves off from the world, acting like they are Cheatham. (See Cheatham.) Due to this, they are rarely seen and nearly never team up with anyone. They can not use weapons of any sort save for Melaney weapons and, oddly enough, these weapons deal no damage to this user as the radiation is the same as what they already give off. (Called Demulium due to its similarity of the word “Death” in Rattilian (Delumia), it is extremely powerful and in pure form can kill a person within seconds of touching it. Melaney weapons give off this radiation regularly, but only to those that touch the weapons. Thus anyone holding one of these weapons will take massive damage, depending on the weapon, for every round they try to use or carry the weapon.) (Note: Someone that is around this radiation for too long will actualy begin to alter their own DNA. The issue is that what they are being altered too is unknown by anyone as it is a random thing depending on radiation fluctuation at the time and the DNA of the wielder. It is commonly known to never pick up and use a Melaney Weapon unless you are a Melaney.)
2. Xucathian Radiation – Allows the user to degrade abilities on an epic scale. This can be used to defend massive blasts, defeat shields, deplete armor, etc. When used, it works like a large cloud of dust. Whatever is within the cloud will begin to take damage, slightly. (It only deals 1 point of damage per round in this way.) For each point of damage, the defense and attack of the item, weapons, etc. will degrade by 3 pts. If a blast is coming at this user, the ability will work similarly, but they can use their own blast of the cloud to hit the blast before them. Whatever they deal damage wise from their blast is what the blast coming at them will be reduced from. (So it a blast is coming at the user and it is 320 pts. of damage, the user can use their ability to counter and if they blast at 146 pts. of damage, then the blast now coming at them is reduced to 174 pts. of damage.) This ability is not extremely powerful in its attacks but defensively and if used to get through other’s abilities, this is very scary. (Also, think what happens to any person that is within the cloud. Their abilities, both attack and defense, will continually degrade. It takes nearly a full day of rest for this radiation to work its way out of the system, or five rounds to get it off of a weapon or item.)
3. Instavium Radiation – Allows the user to degrade cells. This can be in living beings or in inanimate items. This ability is extremely painful and extremely damaging, dealing 50 pts of damage per touch, plus the users attack. Most of these users will learn hand to hand fighting without weapons so that they can use their ability to its fullest. They must make contact to use the radiation, but once they have, the victim will experience great pain and will be unable to heal the damage. (Healing potions, magics, etc. can not heal this radiation until the radiation is actually removed from the body. The damage done by this radiation is usually permanent as the cells that it affects are usually filled with the radiation and healing them would mean removing the radiation, thus destroying the cell regardless.)
4. Phluganthium Radiation – This is the most common of radiations and can be used in short blasts that deal immense damage. The users will fire blasts of radiation from their hands that can eat through armor, deal damage direct, and its damage is often unrecoverable, much like that of Instavium. These users are often hostile and will dive into battle without much thought as they are not worried about being attacked by any mortals. Even Gods and Malds will give them a wide birth as the damage their blasts do is extreme and often unrecoverable due to its nature. When this radiation deals damage, it will decay the atoms of the item, person, etc. that it hits in such a way that the very essence of the victim is stripped away and can not be recovered due to the fact that there is nothing to recover. The atoms are not destroyed, but rather are turned into the same radiation that is destroying it. This radiation is so feared that Malds will destroy babies if they know they have this ability. Most of the Radiation Energy users will steer clear of this radiation due to the fact that it causes such issues, but most of the Radiation Energy users are born with this ability. When used, the stench is such that it is unmistakable. Smelling of Almonds and Oranges, the smell denotes the radiation, but also a deep breathe of just the smell can cause massive damage to those unfortunate enough to be within an area to breathe it in. The Blasts from this user are always short and unsustainable, but devastating.
5. Radiation Manipulation – Allows the user to manipulate radiation, causing it to pour into or out of an area at will. This is the most powerful of all the Radiation Energy users and the most terrifying. With this ability, the user can “feed” off of the attacks of other energy users, or magic users that have any residuals of radiation from their attack. This makes them a great support unit that will shortly become a frontliner due to the fact that, once they have enough radiation in the area, they can actually pool it together and use it like a fog against others. This user can not pick things up like the Sound Energy, or the Telepath, using energy, because they can not solidify the energy. They can, however, use it to see through walls, penetrate mountains, and the most powerful among them is said to be able to become the different types of radiation, though nothing has ever been written of someone actually doing it. Beware the Radiation Manipulator, for they will be able to do everything the other four do, and then augment their abilities even further. However, beware this ability also because this user has an issue with control of their own abilities and often will pool twice as much radiation as they are trying to pool into a given area.
Radiation Energy users have short lives for the most part. They often will succumb to their own radiation. When someone gains this ability, or it manifests within them, the radiation will actually start to warp their minds over time and thus most of them go crazy somewhere along the way. Only the Radiation Manipulators have lived long lives (the oldest being 345 years old when she died) and having complete control of their mental faculties over the span of their lives (the oldest users often don’t start showing dementia related issues until they are in their 100-200’s like most mortals. The oldest lived woman actually never showed signs of decay.)
Note: All of these users are dangerous to the health of those around them. Even for short periods of time. There are ways around this, using magic, etc. but without proper protection these users are dangerous.
Note 2: It is said that there is a Supre Mald that collects these users and will one day come back with an army of them to destroy the probe, but since no one has heard from this Supre Mald in over 1000 years, no one seems to be afraid.
Note 3: All of these radiations can destroy or alter DNA. In some cases this turns out fantastic, such as some beings gain super strength from simply being around the radiation for too long. Others gain the ability to fly, or the defense of skin. All, however, can be killed when over exposed.
