Possessor

Possessor

The churches of the more evil Demon-Gods were fighting a never ending battle that they were loosing after the first few Exorcists showed up on the planet. These beings could go to a temple and knock it down even if there were a high tier demon protecting it. (Though it would take a few of them to get the job done, this was a major issue for the Demon-Gods).

Vincent Augomoto was especially hit hard by these new fighters and was trying to find a way around them when the first Anthorian Ranger came into being and the council of Churches agreed to make twelve of these massively powerful beings to defend their churches.

Vicent was under attack and stood to lose all of the ground that he had fought so hard to defend. In his searching for the perfect counter to the problem, he came across a young man that was madly in love with a woman that was far beyond his station. He saw in the boy something that would be able to be nurtured and grow into a greatly skilled fighting machine, one that would one day be able to take on these Exoricists and even the Rangers that followed.

Vincent went to the probe and struck a bargain with the boy, telling him that he could elevate the station of the boy, if the boy went through three trials, willingly. The boy accepted and went through the trials.

The first trial took the boy through the depths of the Abyss, leaving his body on the planet for Vicent to watch over. Vincent had heard mention of the way that the Exorcists were created using the waters of Elsidar, these waters could turn a mortal body into a greatly defensive machine that could take massive amounts of punishment, however, these waters would destroy anything impure. So putting a demon through the waters was less than ideal. A human, however, would simply have their “evils” stripped away and would be just shy of innocent. Once a being passed through the waters, their bodies could then be altered in different ways without killing them. Vincent wasn’t sure of his next step, and couldn’t be sure there would be one.

The boy returned, a bit worse for wear because the only way for Vicent to get to these waters was through the Abyss and the path that he created still allowed for the soul of the boy to be tested along the way. Vincent later altered this to make it a bit easier, but this was his first try. The boy was all but blank when he returned. Vincent didn’t care, he was desperate. He altered the boys body using Brown and Grey Magic and then poured massive amounts of Inthanium into the boys blood stream. (See Vincent Augomoto, See Death Stalker)

(Inthanium is similar to Metophic Energy and is what holds the bonds of a hell together.) He thought the boy would just die and that would be the end of it, but because he walked through the waters of Elsidar, the boy survived.

Vincent then placed a demon within the boy and sent him back to the planet. He placed the boy in a household of pure blood nobles and made them all believe that he was one of their family. (This was to fulfill his promise as Vincent never squelches on a deal.) In the end, the boy married the girl of his dreams, even though the boy was no longer the boy at all. Their child became the first Possessor.

With the Inthanium coursing through his veins and the waters of Elsidar being part of his skin now, the boy could summon demons as if casting a simple spell. He could control them, but usually he did not need to as the whole idea was to simply get them to the planet and then let them go. (Since the hells are not part of this plane of existence, it take massive amounts of power to defeat the wall that holds between the two planes. After defeating the wall, even Vincent is left drained and will have minimal powers on the planet. Minimal to a Demon-God of course. With the boys help, these demons were coming up with full power.)

It took three generations of these kids to finally perfect the Possessors to Vincent’s needs, but once perfected, the Possessors are now a force to be reckoned with. He has repeated to the process many times over the past few millennia, but only two have ever survived the trek into the Abyss to make it back for the second part of the plan. This posses a major problem for Vincent, but the two families have stopped the overreaching power of the Exoricsts.

The Possessor has the ability to draw a demon to the probe and place them within any being close to them that is of 1/2 lesser will than themselves. This demon will be able to stay in play as long as the anchor that they are tied to stays as well. The demon will have full power and full control of themselves. They never turn on the Possessor, but those of the Possessor’s party are not so defended. The demon will usually take on the Possessor’s enemies, but not always.

The Possessor is very durable, strong, fast, and agile. They have many direct talents of their own, depending on their schools of study, but for the most part a Possessor could stand toe to toe with a Melaney and hold their ground for a short time. Against an Exorcist, the Possessor usually will not fight directly, though they can, but they almost always bring forth a demon to do the fighting while they move off and watch the fun.

Note: The Possessor does not suffer from any disease and poisons can not harm them at all.

Note 2: Magic deals 1/2 damage direct to the Possessor, but area effects remain normal damage.

Note 3: Due to their nature, sanctified ground can damage the Possessor like that of a Witch. (See Witch/Warlock.)

Note 4: Possessors use will to bring in a demon, so most of them will bring in lower demons. However, if they are trouble directly, they can bring in up to a high tier demon. No Possessor has ever brought in a top tier demon as thus far.
Note 5: It is believed that Possessors can summon angels as well, though this has not been proven as of yet.

Note 6: Possessors can not have mutations of any sort.

Note 7: Possessors can use Hell-Fire as an attack if they use it directly from their soulmere. This will drain until there is nothing left of whatever the target might be. If the soulmere does not hold out to the attack, then the Possessor will die as well.

Note 8: Other than the two boys thus far, there are none that have survived the process of seeing the Abyss and then the process of the Inthanium replacing their blood. It is not known why these two were able to survive both and it is not known what either of their names are, but it is thought that they were both Occulus. It is known that the Churchs that are against Vincent have a gateway that leads them directly to the water so that they they don’t have to enter the Abyss directly. If Vincent could get one of those gates, then he would become a force to recon with. This is one of Vincent’s goals.

Note 9: The Possessor can leave their body and “possess” others on the field for short times as well. They don’t do this often due to leaving themselves open, but in a one-on-one fight, they have been known to slow their opponents using this trick. They can also use it if they are not in battle for short periods of time to get them differently desired effects on others.

Note 10: The Possessor can not be harmed directly by Soul Trappers because the Possessors are born with no soul. The soulmere that they draw upon is actually not their own but those of the demons and other creatures that they were in contact with when they were born. They can increase their soulmere by “feeding” on others and drawing their power to them, but this takes a lot of talent and the right conditions.

Note 11: The Possessor is highly defensive to magic, mental and many physical attacks, but they have a very low threshold for energy attacks. (All energy deals double damage to the Possessor.)

Note 12: There are many Possessors that have learned how to bring forth energy and power as well as abilities from demons and angels that they have previously brought forth. Using this ability they have access to any of the abilities that they have brought into play within the last 24 hrs. This will extend to angels, demons, Gods, etc. If they bring them in for even a second they will be able to access their abilities for the following 24 hrs. However, they will have to use the will, soulmere, energy, etc. to bring those abilities into play at double the original cost.
