Demonologist

Demonologist

The Demonologist is much like the Angelologist. (See Angelologist). They can bring forth demons from whichever hell they are tied to. This allows them to use the powers and abilities of the demons, summon some of the demons and even become a demon themselves. This presents a problem to the Demonologist in that if they use too much of the powers that they are being granted, they will consume their own soul and either be dragged to the hell that they now serve, or be dissolved completely to the Abyss.

The Demonologist is granted a book when they first sacrifice to the Demon-God that they choose to serve. This sacrifice has to be of blood and has to be of something that they loved. The book has within it nothing but a single name. That name will summon a demon, or its abilities, to the Demonologist. This will allow the user to gain access to the powers or the demon and begin learning how to use it. Once mastered, another name will appear within the book and the process continues. This will happen until the book is filled with all the levels from within the hell or hells that this person is serving.

The Demonologist does not have to forfeit their soul in servitude to their hell or hells. Instead the sacrifice that they made was given to the Demon-God for a certain amount of time and at the end of that time the soul will move off to where ever it was supposed to have gone in the first place. When this happens, the Demonologists book will no longer grant them names without another sacrifice. All of the powers and abilities that they have already unlocked will remain at their disposal, but the demons that are summoned will now be defiant and rude. At least more rude than they were to begin with. They will still follow the orders of their Demonologist, but if they find a way out of the “master’s” hold they will take it and kill the Demonologist.

Note: When summoning a demon directly, the Demonologist will have to have certain wards in place or the demon will have free reign against any mortal in the area, including the Demonologist. Most will tattoo themselves greatly with these wards to ensure that they are defended, but will also use brick and salt on the ground in a circle to seal the demon outside of the circle. (It is not actually the brick, but the silica sand and lime mix that slows or even stops a demon. Mix that with salt and the demon can not reach over, around, under or use abilities through the solid wall of this mixture. They can not so much as blow on it. If, however, the mixture were to have a single crack through its wall, the demon can slip power through, or sometimes even themselves. Called Demons-bane.)

Always be wary to renew your bag of Demons-bane, for it can and will save your life.

Note 2: The Demonologist will have little to no control of the demons that they summon. When summoned they are there to wreck havoc and not try to work around things. If the Demonologist is trying to save someone, the demon is just as likely to kill that someone as they are to kill their enemies. However, the Demonologist can send the demon back at anytime as long as the demon remains in their power. (A demon will always try to get out of the power of the master and will promise, lie, cheat, steal, kill, use illusions, whatever they have to do to get free. To get free, they need only have the Demonologist lose focus on them for an instant, in this case it would be if the will of the user drops below that of the demon that they are controlling.)

Note 3: Most Wizards are Demonologists that use magic to defend themselves while chanting to bring forth large demons to do the actual fighting. The Wizard will use their natural magic to defend themselves long enough to use their Demons-bane. Then they will release a large demon and simply watch the terror.

Note 4: If a demon kills the master through any means, they have a few seconds to try and rip the soul from the master. If this happens the master’s soul will be forfeit to the hell or hells that the demon serves. This is only the case of the master, the one that brought this demon into this realm. All others that are killed by the demon will go to where ever their souls are destined.

Note 5: Demonologists usually fear the dark. This is due to the things that they have seen and what they know is lurking in the dark. Most will set large campfires, or a massive ring of Demons-bane before going to sleep. Some will release small demons around their camps in hiding so that they are “secure” while they sleep, but will lite the fires rather largely to stave off the dark. When placing their four walls, they will leave the roof off and the fire will climb high into the night.

Always be wary of what comes in the night.

Note 5: The Demonologists last ditch effort to survive comes in the form of Hell-Fire. This fire is made up of Grey Magic, Yellow Magic and Metophic Energy. Due to its dilution, it is not as powerful as that of Heaven-Fire, but its effects more than make up for the, in comparison, lack of power. When struck with Hell-Fire, the victim no only hits a great deal of damage due to high amounts of heat rivaling that of several stars, but they also are slowed in this process. What takes seconds to destroy their entire body in real time, will seem to them to be minutes or even hours, depending on their defense to the Grey Magic. This slow down will make it so that the victim feels every portion of pain that is dealt through the fire and that, once their shock tries to kick in, they will slow even further and watch themselves disintegrate. It is said that most go mad before they are consumed entirely, but none have been able to withstand these fires thus far. Even Suprema are weary of the force and abilities of the Heaven and Hell-Fires due to the Metophic Energies involved. However, the user must be wary as well, for Hell-Fire feeds on Soulmere and once released, will continue to fire until the opponent is completely destroyed. This means that the amount of energy that is being released must equal that of the consumed. If the user is less powerful than the victim, their energy pts. will not be enough and the Hell-Fire will begin to consume the Soulmere of the user. This will start with their excess Soulmere first, but will continue through their very soul if need be. It is unstoppable once it is fired. (There are some spells that incorporate Hell-Fire but are not the blast like this one. Those cost greatly but do not feed on the user after the spell is cast.)
