The Rile Terra were once part of the Paragrim society, but splintered off many centuries ago and became their own society. They settled in Palama since none wanted to keep them in their own lands. The unyielding desert was killing them off and they were slowly going extinct. Without the love of their Gods, they were left to fend for themselves and since their Emthada had been killed by the Koltu, they had no true leaders. A handful of their highest ranked brought armies forth and a civil war broke out. After the war was won by Desingal Bothana’s family, the Rile Terra, which were still considered Paragrim, came the realization that they were going to all die if something wasn’t done.
The new Emthada went into the desert and begged the Gods to come and save them, and he was gone for nearly twelve years and when he returned, the curse that had been lain upon their people for defying the Hicinth, Great Church, and their God, had taken its toll and most of the people were dead. When the Emthada returned, he was carrying a new symbol and a new curse that would save and enslave his people. The Paragrim were no more within this sect and they were renamed the Rile Terra, which in ancient Paragrim stood for “Those that would survive”.
The new curse that covered his people was such that the Emthada and his/her family absorbed the manna of all of the rest of the race. This caused the rest of the race to slowly decay and seem to become “undead” as their very flesh would rot and fall away, leaving muscle, and sometimes actual bone exposed. The excruciating pain that follows makes concentration a hard thing for this race when they are first born, but after they have lived with it a while, they become more and more able to concentrate and keep out the pain. The curse doesn’t affect those that are under the age of twelve, but on their birthday the curse sets in and the pain is so powerful that many will go into a coma for a couple months after that birthday and some never come back out of it. Those that do survive, however, have their bones solidify, their wings fall off, their skin being to turn ashen and grey and their strength double. That mixed with the fact that they can now use Brown, Grey and Black magic as if they were born with it, makes them very formidable.

Rile Terra society is still similar to the Paragrim in that they are led by an Emthada, but the difference comes with the Emthada and his/her family are the ruling party completely. Usually the Emthada will hand down their crown from father to son/daughter, or from brother to sister. It has only been twice that the Emthada was overthrown and both times it was at the cost of the entire family of the original Emthada.
The rest of the society work together but all are ready to stab one another in the back at the drop of a hat. Only family is to be trusted and only at arms length. The Markets of Palama are filled with swindlers, thieves and the like. A City of Rile Terra is the most dangerous place on the probe. Even some of the ruins don’t have as many traps as those found in a market, or alley of one of their cities. Due to this, most other races won’t even enter Palama or any of the Rile Terra lands and in dealings with the Rile Terra, everyone is expecting to be swindled in one way or another.
The families of the Rile Terra build structure for their families called Octolisk. The Octolisk is a large “home” that is usually like a large Pyramid that has a million different directions through a maze of death and anyone that enters without knowing which way to turn will find themselves trapped within or dead soon after. No other family will be allowed within each families Octolisk and the entire family will live within. There are many peasants that can’t afford one of these, and are at the mercy of the families grounds that they have to live upon.
Rile Terra will steal any tech they can come across and try to reverse engineer them, but this is only for their own family. No Rile Terra would give over their tech for the state unless they were going to earn a great deal from it.
All Rile Terra will keep their tech to themselves and give out only what they need to keep their family higher than others.
The Rile Terra now hate the Gods and most curse them for all they are worth. If given the ability they will take down the gods or kill them. They truly hate all gods. Most of them will deal with Demon-Gods, but they have an issue in this as they can’t sell their souls as the Emthada owns them and even the Emthada can’t sell them. This is due to the original curse and keeps the Rile Terra from ever becoming “too” powerful for the Demon-God that they originally had dealing with. It also shunts some of the Imbue abilities of the Rile Terra as they have to grant 1/2 of their Imbue to the Emthada.
All Rile Terra start off at Psychopathic (17). No roll needed.
Due to the Paragrims past, many Rile Terra will be persecuted in response, regardless of them being a different race now. Due to this, many of the lands of Probe One will not allow the Rile Terra to enter at all. These lands include all of Dremta, the Isle of Bedlam, Much of Zerror, Parts of Shenor and the Isle of the Apple.
The Rile Terra are born with so much manna that they are like small batteries, nothing as powerful as the Kalagrim, but they are very powerful (+1000 Mg. Pts.).
The Rile Terra can’t gain any abilities from Gods, Malds, etc. but also can’t have their abilities removed by them either. Due to this, Hallowed land, Sanctified, Cursed, etc. will do nothing the the Rile Terra. They also can’t be the subject of curses at all. (At least not further curses.)
