The Kalagrim are a very religious race that worships magic of virtually any sort. They are born “bathed” of magic, in that their souls are swimming in magic, much like a battery that brings forth manna nearly of its own accord.
Though they are extremely powerful in the ways of magic, they are not so much in any other way that counts. The Kalagrim are puny in body and fair in mind. Energy is their biggest bane being that most energy attacks can kill a Kalagrim with minimal effort. (Something that would simply shock a human would kill a Kalagrim).
They start off in life knowing the magics of their family and with that, the magic spells of their house. This gives them a great advantage, as long as they don’t lose the book for which they learn. As long as they hold their family book near to them, they can use any of the spells from the book without having to read the book. However, if the book is not in their possession, they will have only the magics that they have directly memorized. For this reason, most will wear the book around their necks with a sturdy chain.
Any Magic ranks at all.
Rarely will they use any other Ranks.
Kalagrim Defense: This give the Kalagrim a +20 Magic defense at the start of the game.
Kalagrim Magic Pool: All Kalagrims have a magic pool that is 1000 mana deep and can pull from their pool at any time during any game. Once they sleep, the pool is regenerated, but it does not regenerate in any other fashion.
Magic Field: This allows the user to place a field of pure magic around themselves to defend against physical and energy attacks in a perfect sphere. When this field come up, however, it forms a perfect sphere around the user and cuts them off from anything else until it dissipates (Costs 100 Magic pts. of any color the user chooses. Costs 4 Stamina. Defends 800 pts. of damage per round for 6 rounds. All damage defended this way [divided by 3], will come out of the magic points of the user . If the user is out of magic points, then they will begin to lose Will in exchange.)

The Kalagrim female is the dominate sex within the Kalagrim society and they take charge in most every way. However, they are not allowed to leave the confines of their cities and as such are rarely seen within the other cities of the probe. There have been a few cases where females where allowed to leave, but they are few and far between.
The Monarch is female and she will have up to six males that are considered her flock. Each of them will be given a part of the kingdom to rule over and will have all authority in this portion of the kingdom but will answer directly to the queen. The queen can choose to change out any of these men at any time for any reason and is “married” to each of them through ceremony. If one of them dies, she is to replace that one within a fort night by law. This custom has been in place for thousands of years and they rarely stray from it.
The queen rules over all of the society, then the six, known as Dukes, take the power and then it trickles down to the Sheriffs of each city. The Sheriff, unlike those of other civilizations, is the judge and the executioner. Due to the fact that she was there to witness the events, she will be the one to keep the court proceedings in check. As for courts, the criminals is brought before a military tribunal where three men and the Sheriff consider the “facts” of the case and then deal out punishment where needed.
Beyond that, the society is completely run by women as well. Men are not allowed to own land, run businesses, etc. without the express approval from the queen. Husbands change their last names to suite match their wives and are taken from their families to live with the wives family. Most marriages are arranged and the males are given away at the age of twelve to their new family. Where they are then trained in the new families ways and treated as a slave for five years. If they get through the “Primarinus”, as it is called, then they become part of the house hold and are treated very well.
Women will usually take up to six husbands and will choose which women can marry their sons once they come of age.
The rest of society is run on a power stance, where if a person is extremely powerful in their craft, they can move from their current station to another. Every five years a tournament is held in each of the lands. Anyone can join and the ranking of that tournament decides the ranking of their house. This is a massive event and nearly everyone gets involved. Anyone that does not participate will be placed below everyone that did participate on the list, regardless of how powerful they might be. This event is held like a great arena fight but it is not to the death and rarely is there actual fighting.
The Kalagrim rely on magic to help them through life and have very little to no use for technology of any sort. However, they will form their spells to imitate particular technologies that they have seen.
The Kalagrim worship many different gods. Often they will worship whichever god they must at the time that they must. That is not to say that they do not believe in the gods, quite the opposite. Kalagrim are very religious and do what they can to worship as many gods as they can to appease them all. This often backfires, but they have adopted many ceremonies from different religions and even mashed some together to make something completely new simply to try and appease a particular god, or a few of them.
If they pass a church, they will use their sign to show their respect. They will never misuse a holy relic of any god and they will always show respect when near anyone that may be a god.
Kalagrim have a base persona of Unbiased in that they often will try not to take sides of any sort of argument simply to try and avoid a conflict. This is not to say that they are cowards, far from it, only that they would rather be diplomatic than, as they put it, “Barbaric”.
Kalagrim can not ride beasts of virtually any kind. They can, however, mimic a beast with their magic, or summon one with their magic, and alter it so that they can ride it without damaging themselves.
Kalagrim are natural cave dwellers and thus their entire kingdom is underground. They have three major cities, all located under the mountains of Shenor, where they keep their cities well hidden from prying eyes. They do not allow outsiders to enter the cities as a given rule, but it has happened from time to time.
