The Drykonians are a race of Living Vampires. In this they are eaters of Soulmere, not drinkers of blood. They have the ability to consume Soulmere by touch from virtually any living thing on the probe, as long as it has Soulmere. Needless to say they are not welcome in most “civilized” society.
The Drykonians, due to their consumption habits, are stronger, faster and have a few abilities that other mortals don’t have. For a time they were actually worshiped as gods, but that was a very long time ago. In a distant past, the ancestors of the Drykonians made a deal with a Demon-God to grant them power to defeat a foe that was annihilating their race. This power came with strings that none of them could have foreseen and as such they live their lives, cursed to feed off the Soulmere of other living things and as such are outcasts before they are even born.
Only the cities of Propell and Cross Roads will welcome their kind, outside of their own cities, which are hidden deep within mountains or caves for fear of eradication. The gift of power that they once sought to relieve them from one foe made them the target of nearly all races.

True Flight: The Drykonian can fly at speeds of up to fifty miles an hour without strain and can hold this for as long as their stamina holds out, while carrying 1/2 of their lift weight. If they are carrying more than this, they will lose speed by 1 mph per every 1 lbs. beyond their 1/2 point (Costs 50 Stamina per 6 rounds).
Soulmere Gather: Allows the Drykonian to consume the Soulmere of anything that they touch with Soulmere. This can be fought against, only if the victim sees the attack coming. If not, the Drykonian can consume up to 1/2 of the victims Soulmere while the victim is stunned. Note: The victim does have a save roll of Shock vs. Fear and if they win, then they are not stunned, thereby breaking the hold of the Drykonian (Costs 20 Stamina to initiate).
Speed Doubler: Drykonians already are very fast, but they can double their speed at will (See Speed Doubler).

The Drykonians live underground and have littel Social Structure. They usually will do anything to survive, but beyond that haven’t setup governments of virtually any sort. This is primarily because all their governments get destroyed shortly after being established.
That said, they do have a leader that keeps to the deepest depths of their underworld and will give orders when needed. It is rare for them to join any fights or do anything other than try to survive, but when they do unite, they are a terrifying people as they are extremely strong, fast, and have talents that most can’t use or fight against directly. However, they have to many drawbacks that they couldn’t take over other races with ease simply due to their own bodies.
Since they don’t do governments of any real size, they will do tribes and have a leader of that tribe, but it is more a formality and usually the entire tribe will vote before anything is actually carried out, so none of them have any true power over one another, save for the supreme leader, which always stays hidden.
As a part of their overall issues, technology does not come easy to them because most races will not show them how the technology works, or only use it against them when they actually see it work. Thus technology isn’t something that they usually get to work with.
The Drykonians despise all forms of religion and hate the gods. They want nothing to do with any of them and would destroy them if they had the chance. After their ancestors caused them to be as they are, they tried as a people to find a way out of the bargain, but once a deal with Vicent Augomoto is made, it is nearly impossible to reverse.
Drykonians are mostly Callous in their dealings with others, being cautious and weary of what anyone might try to do to them and always being aware of what they can do to the other people.
The Drykonians have abilities much like that of Vampires, as shown above, but they can also use certain other abilities once they have learned how to master them. Certain Shamon among their people will sell these and only through them will the user be able to acquire them. They are listed here:
Shadow Slip, Zero Damage, Dodge, Agility Boost, Rush, Powered Strike, Blast Fire, Dark Eyes, Shadow Walk, Mental Halfer, Mind Purge, Mental Control, Psyonic Blast, Psyochenisis, and many more.
Though they are very powerful and very fast, it is rare that any of them gains any type of rank as other societies will not take them in to train them. They are seen as evil and someone to “put down” as quickly as possible.
The Drykonians are not dead, but they are not considered living either. This is due to the fact that they do not require sustenance to survive and they do not have a beating heart, nor do they need to breath. This makes it so that the normal ways of killing them are less than effective. A blow that would kill a normal mortal will simply stagger a Drykonian. To completely kill them, they must have their heads remove, their body destroyed or a power surge powerful enough to disrupt their mental capabilities.
The Drykonian has many mental abilities that can be unlocked due to the agreement with the Demon-God, but these will be used in varying degrees by each of the race. Some will be able to unlock more than others, simply according to their Will and their Imbue. All, however, have the capacity of great magic, great mental and great physical abilities. And all can gain these without mastering the others.
Note: It is very hard to play this race in a campaign and often will result in the death of the player. Ensure that you are very good at RPGs before venturing forth with this character.
Note 2: Actual Vampires despise this race due to the fact that they are “mimicking” their abilities. Also, because they have no blood. Thus actual Vampires will kill Drykonians on sight. Or at least they will try.
Note 3: Most Drykonians will wear the highest of fashions for their society and silk or similar cloth to ensure that they look good and that the materials will defend against damage or aging. Due to this they often make deals with those that are higher in the fashion business.
