The Dalim are played as a male/female duo due to the fact that the male has little to no intelligence and the female has no legs. She sits in a pouch that forms on his back and can move back and forth within the pouch, but can’t get out until they reach 100 years of age, at which time she grows legs and he grows a brain, and his pouch flattens to his back.
The Dalim males are usually calm and quiet, speaking only when they need to and often sounding like they are retarded, even if they are greatly intelligent. They take on jobs such as bar tender, bouncer, enforcer and the like.
The Dalim females are usually pissed off and always in a bad mood. Their outlook on life is of a “realist” point of view where they can’t see anything but the worst of anything that is done. If it can go wrong, she is going to point it out so that everyone knows it. If it isn’t perfect, then she is going to point out the imperfections to everyone, regardless of who that might offend.

Armored Hide: Dalims have extremely hard skin that is considered metal, though it actually is not truly metal. Their hide is strong enough to take a blast from a canon at point blank range without even bending or scratching (+20 Def., +10 At.).
Muscle Infusion: Dalims blood is nearly pure magic and as such they don’t need to eat to sustain their life essence. They do, however, need to consume mana to keep themselves alive. Due to this all their muscles are infused with mana and can extend far beyond the bounds of mortal strength (+10 At., +5 Def., +40 Lift Weight)
Magic Blood: A good and bad thing about Dalims is that they have literal magic flowing through their veins. Due to this, they can augment certain abilities with simple spells that would augment mortals, but their augmentations go far beyond (All physical augmentations are triple the amount for +2 rounds of augmentation). The problem with this, is that if they are cut in the slightest, their blood can actually be used against them for spells, or even explosively as certain types of magic have an explosive reaction when mixed with the purple magic flowing through their veins. (If mixed with other magics that don’t normally mix with Purple, the spells will deal triple their normal damage to the Dalim, or do triple their normal effects to the Dalim if the Dalim is bleeding).
Magic Ward: Due to their blood, magic is very hard for a Dalim to learn since they literally are immune to many of its effects. Most magic will deal only 1/2 of its abilities on a Dalim if they are not bleeding and the effects of all magics last 1/2 as long. However, certain Dalim have learned to harness their blood and tap into its abilities and have become some of the most powerful magic users on the probe. Though, again, this is very rare.

Dalims have no “social structure”. They are nomads that wonder without homes for the most part. If there are more than three in a given city it is strange unless the city is enormous. They rarely settle into cities or towns as they have little love for other races. They will, however, settle down if they find a cause worth fighting for. This is rare but it does happen. During both Melaney Wars and both Death Wars, the Dalim banded together on either side and fought hand in hand to one another. This was a detrimental to the races foolish enough to get in their way as they could cut through other races as if they were not even there using their great axes and their abilities to manipulate magic on in depth scales. (At least for the very few Dalims that could use magic.)
Dalims will learn technology when they have no other choice, relying mostly on their ability to defend themselves from virtually any attack without much problem. They rarely use technology but can be taught when it is needed.
Dalims don’t believe that there are “gods”. Simply beings that are more powerful then the mortal beings. They believe that if they work hard enough, they too can become like those gods.
Males: Base persona is Fair. They are often mistaken for fools, even after they reach their maturity at age 100, but they are often far more intelligent than believed and are always trying to see things on a fair and even field.
Females: Base persona is Callous in that they don’t care about anything except themselves. They usually hate the male that they are bound too because they have to rely on him for all of their nourishment until they are no longer attached to him. They will defend him, but only because he is their only source of life for the first 100 years.
The Dalim are bound together, not just because he has the brain of a toddler and she has no legs, but also through an umbilical cord that goes from his spine into her stomach and sends nourishment from him to her.
The Dalim gain nourishment by consuming mana. This is done through touch and a Dalim can touch anything on the probe and consume part of its mana, but it leaves them vulnerable to counter attacks as when they do this, they are connecting to the thing that they are feeding on. They would not want to do this with a humanoid for a few different reasons, but most importantly because doing so would feed their thoughts and those of the humanoid toward one another and it would allow the humanoid to draw mana back from the Dalim as well. It could turn out fatal for either or both if the fight went on too long.
At age 100, Dalim males begin to learn at an accelerated rate for one month. During that time they will have an understanding similar to that of a genius and be able to take info in at a rate seven times that of a normal mortal. Due to this they become exceedingly smart in a very short amount of time. Once that month is completed, their learning capabilities will be lost and learning becomes a step by step thing again. Thus if they are in the right place at the right time, they could consume all mortal knowledge in the span of a month, or they could consume only the knowledge of a deep well during that time and learn little more going forward.
The female, during this time will sprout and grow legs and the umbilical cord will decay and fall off. Once the cord is completely removed, the two are no longer one and they will go their separate ways. However, the female, during this time, also reaches her sexual maturity and becomes as driven as a teenage human boy sexually. Thus she now finds the male, whom she has ridiculed and harassed for 100 years, so sexy and enticing that she can’t stand it. She will follow him anywhere, becoming jealous with any new people the male might meet and wanting nothing more than to start a new family with him. He, rarely, takes her up on this and the two of them will part with her going and finding a different male to reproduce with. (Note: These two are of the same genetic spring due to being “brother and sister”, but their genetics are much different from mortal humans and as such there is no incest involved for the two of them grow very different DNA over the course of their lives. In some cases, their DNA is so different that they actually become “allergic” to one another and the female will die due to the male’s mana being toxic to her.)
The female, now with new legs, will being to consume food as the male, but she has to learn, just as he did, what she can and can not eat.
Dalim can live to thousands of years old before their bodies begin to fail. It can take hundreds of years for their bodies to fail so much that they can no longer consume mana.
Note: Dalim are not very tall, but they are extremely wide. The male is often as wide as they are tall in that a 5’2″ tall Dalim may well be 5′ wide in his stance. The females don’t have this same issue as they are wider than normal humanoids but not so wide as to look out of place.
Note: Dalim females are considered the ugliest of all humanoids on the probe.
